Sheep And Wool Development Programme
 
 
 
 
Last year RURAL DEVELOPMENT & RESEARCH CENTRE implemented the programme called Sheep and wool Improvement Scheme for the betterment of the community in Mandvi, Mundra, Naliya, Lakhpat taluka of Kutch district of Gujarat. The programme is sponsored by Central Wool Development Board, Jodhpur under Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India. Under the programme, being the implementing agency RDRC is covering 1, 75,000 sheep and more than 1000 Shepherds. Main component of the programme are providing treatment and medicines round the year for the targeted Sheep, Supply of good quality of Ram for breed improvement, grading the wool, doing proper marketing for the wool and also offer need based training programme towards the community for better livelihood and sheep related matter. Apart from that under the scheme the students who are belongs to the Maldhari community and studying from class VIII to XII will get Rs. 100 scholarship per month. This helps the community at large and encourage the children as well parents for higher study.

Apart from that for the betterment of the community the implementing agency started one Multipurpose Extension Centre, at Nana- Aasambiya Village in Mandvi taluka in Kutch dist of Gujarat. The centre is providing all types of facilities towards the community and also installed new modern equipments for cutting the wool fast and proper way.
