Environment and Climate Change

RDRC spearheaded a sanitation project in Karnali Juth Gram-Panchayat, co-sponsored by Sun Pharma under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. The primary objective of the project was to establish sanitation facilities in rural areas, with a key focus on eradicating the practice of open defecation and ensuring a clean environment. Additionally, the project aimed to prevent environmental pollution, particularly river pollution, while promoting health, hygiene, and ecological awareness among the local population.

A total of 408 factory-made toilets were installed for beneficiary families in Karnali Juth Gram-Panchayat. These toilets, manufactured using lightweight GRC modular panels, are easy to install, require minimal maintenance, and are available in aesthetically pleasing colors. Through this initiative, RDRC and Sun Pharma are actively contributing to the improvement of sanitation infrastructure and overall well-being in the community.

In Mandvi Taluka of District Kachchh, the village of Modhava is home to approximately 300 families who rely on fishing for their livelihood. However, the quality of water in the area is unfit for drinking, contaminated by algae growth and degraded in quality.

Recognizing the urgent need for a reliable drinking water source, a borewell was installed near the water check dam in Gundiyari Village. A pipeline spanning approximately 1.5 to 2 kilometers was laid to ensure year-round water supply. To overcome gravity limitations, a pump house was constructed near the borewell to facilitate the pumping of water into the pipeline. Previously, water was temporarily stored in an existing water tank within the village. Now, water is distributed to the villagers through 20 standposts, ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water for the community.
